Plarpebu is inspired by the famous Winamp player. Here are its 3 main windows : player, equalizer and playlist. As Plarpebu is a skinnable application (it uses the SkinLF package by L2Fprod? .com), we also provide some screesnhots with other skins selected.

Playlist

The playlist is quiete complete : supports drag'n'drop of files from the desktop (work on any system but Linux/KDE for unknown reasons), support internal drag'n'drop for songs reordering, supports "add files" with multiple selection, "add dir" and "add dir recursively" using a very nice gui component by L2Fprod? . Furthermore, its tools menu can launch a very powerful "playlist manager", very useful for selecting songs from different parts of your filesystem and add them into the playlist. The manager can remind your favorite folders, supports drag'n'drop etc.

Plugins

Plarpebu is based on plugins. Everything is a plugin : the playlist, the equalizer etc... plugins for the two karaoke formats are provided : midi karoke (through .kar our mid files with text events) and mp3+cdg. Other plugins like an album cover grabber and some example plugins are provided. The cover grabber uses ID3 tags from mp3/vorbis files or the meta tags it can find in the .kar midi files.

The midi karaoke plugin

The midi karaoke plugin is fully resizable and customizable : choose fonts, colors, outline, etc... Full Screen with hardware acceleration mode available (works well under windows, on certain linux and is buggy on mac). Double click the window to switch between full screen/window modeThis mode is already available for the mp3+cdg karaoke plugin... Support for international files is also quiete correct. See screenshots below...

These three examples have been obtained using the "Arial Unicode MS" font, under windows XP. But any font that supports the corresponding charset would fit (making the player usable on other OS in these langages).

The mp3+cdg karaoke plugin

This plugins supports the famous mp3+cdg format. Full screen hardware accelerated mode is available, but does not work well on mac OS X as far as java 1.4.2

Album Grabber plugin

This plugins displays CD covers when a song is played. It is still in development and many new features will be available like hard disk cache of covers etc...
